The Vagina Monologues

Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues is performed throughout the world and consists of a number of monologues that deal with aspects of the feminine experience including sex, love, rape, female genital mutilation, orgasm, menstruation, birth, the various common names for the vagina and as a physical part of the body.

A recurring theme throughout the piece is the vagina as a tool of female empowerment, and the ultimate embodiment of individuality. Internationally it is associated with efforts to reduce violence against women and girls and serves to highlight these still relevant issues.

Directed by Nanette Brimmer, The Vagina Monologues is being produced by Palazzo Pereira - freedom of expression, as part of the Mara - Perspettivi suit of events which also includes an art exhibition, musical concert and discussion event.
