Holqa European Theatre Festival for Students
Description:
Ħolqa is a European Theatre Festival for Students produced by Ġ.F. Abela Junior College and Troupe 18:45 involving post-secondary students, organised as part of Junior College’s 20th Anniversary celebrations.
The festival is in its second edition and will see young Maltese theatre professionals and adolescents working alongside their counterparts from other European countries through various theatre styles and activities. The seven participating countries this year are France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Ireland, Malta and Spain. Ħolqa is supported by Premju tal-President għall-Kreattività 2014, Valletta 2018 Foundation, Farsons Foundation, www.visitmalta.com and Kunsill Studenti Junior College (KSJC).
Ħolqa will take place on 9-13 March. Activities included during the five-day festival are:
• Seven performances at Ġ.F. Abela Junior College by the participating groups
• Theatre workshops for the participants in various spheres such as acting, voice, movement
• Junior College Soiree to conclude the festivities Three local judges involved in the literary and dramatic arts will judge and provide feedback on all performances on the last day of the festival.
The judges are Polly March (actor/director), Clare Azzopardi (author), Charles Sammut (actor).
Tickets: €2 for one show, €3 for more than one/day.
