Sawl
Description:
The Talenti theatre company will present its second production: Sawl. This is a Maltese monologue about the turbulent life led by St Paul, which will be interpreted by Mario Micallef. The detailed monologue contains original writing from Alfred Palma, and is directed by Zep Camilleri.
From Paul to Saul (Sawl); from paganism to Christianity; from a man who wanted to destroy the teachings of God to an apostle of Christ.
What do you know about Saul/Paul? What do you know about his character, his sense of rebellion that drove him to do what he did, or why, after his dramatic conversion to Christianity which he initially hated, became not only an apostle, but spread the word and refined what Peter and the other apostles originally preached. Since many of them were uneducated, they perhaps did not undertand the teachings of Christ and in this way, they evoked certain controversies that could still be part of the Catholic Church today. What was the disagreement that Paul had with some of the other disciples, espcially Simon Peter?
If you would like an answer to all this, watch the controversial monologue Sawl, which will be held on the 24, 25, 31 January and 1 February 2015 at St James Cavalier in Valletta at 8pm.
