It-Triq tas-Salib fit-Toroq Taghna

Saint Mary Band Club of Dingli will be once again holding its annual event featuring the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ along the streets of the picturesque village of Dingli. This will be held on Tuesday 31st March 2015 (Public Holiday) in collaboration with Dingli Parish. The ‘Way of the Cross’ will be the main highlight of this year’s event which will start at 18:30 from Misrah Abela Square, where the Dingli Band Club is located and ends in front of Dingli’s Parish Church.

The main aim for the organisers is that the public are given the opportunity to meditate on the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, through animated representations of ‘Way of the Cross’. The fifteen stations will be animated throughout the streets of Dingli and the highlight at the end will be representations about the death and resurrection of our Lord.  This will be held in the village centre on the hill where the Dingli Parish Church is located.

Over 130 actors dressed as various Biblical persons will be taking part in this year’s event under the directorship of Mr. Paul Azzopardi. They will also be accompanied by the Dingli Girl Guides, The Parish Choir (Regina Coeli) directed by  Mro. James Chappell ALCM, LLCM, singer Mrs Josephine Ebejer Grech and Saint Mary Band, directed by Mro. Richard Bugeja F.L.C.M., F.V.C.M.(Hons). Thoughts will be read by Mr.Robert Mallia, Chev. Carmelo Bianchi and Mrs. JoyceSaliba.

The theme for the ‘Way of the Cross’ has been chosen as ‘Is-Salib: Skola ta’ Mhabba’ (translated: The Cross: School of Love’). The thoughts related with this theme refer to the Way of the Cross that has been led by Pope Benedict XVI during Good Friday 2012 at Coliseum in Rome. These thoughts have been written by the couple Danilo and Anna Maria Zanzucchi from the Fokolare Movement and translated and adapted to Maltese by Mr. Mario Micallef.
