After
Description:
Naupaca Dance Factory presents After, a contemporary dance show in two parts.
The first part, titled Purgatorio, is a revisitation of Act II of Naupaca Dance Factory’s DIVINA, a contemporary dance adaptation of Dante Alighieri’s epic poem La Divina Commedia. Directed by Joeline Tabone, the performance investigates the relationship between alienation, loss and the modern man. It presents an amalgamation of choreography and spoken word, and addresses notions of liminality and spirituality in a contemporary world.
The second part, titled Non Solo Carmen: Donne Vittime dell’ Amore, explores themes of love, violence and womanhood. Pompea Santoro curates and directs a performance that presents three emblematic female figures, namely Carmen, Giselle and Juliet. Santoro adapts important works by Birgit Cullberg and Mats Ek into a dance commentary on the physical and psychological subjugation of women in society.
