Wayne Hussey (The Mission) - Live In Malta

Thanks to a collaboration with Eve Evangel & Gothic Scene Malta, Hairyamp Promotions are happy to announce that Wayne Hussey, singer and guitarist from the legendary gothic rock band The Mission will be playing an acoustic set at Razzett L-Ahmar on Saturday the 22nd November.

This up close and personal performance is one of many dates on ‘Songs of Candlelight and Razorblades‘ tour. The Mission need no introduction to anyone within the gothic music landscape. They were and remain one of the biggest and most influential names to infiltrate the scene.

Despite carrying the ‘gothic’ tag, The Mission wrote brilliant, catchy rock songs that managed to capture the imagination of the general public as well. They were indeed one of the biggest bands in the UK from the mid-80’s to the early 90’s with twelve hit singles and three Top 10 albums.

Songs like ‘Butterfly on a Wheel, ’Tower of Strength,’ ‘Wasteland,’ and ‘Deliverance’ remain classic rock anthems till this very day. During this period, The Mission enhanced their reputation as one of the best and most exciting live bands in the world winning countless accolades, and inspiring both media stories and a fanatical following as they toured constantly. Highlights include seven sold-out consecutive shows at the Astoria Theatre in London, headlining the famous Reading Festival twice, and also playing with U2, The Cure and Robert Plant. Their second album ‘Children’ was produced by Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones. Record sales to date exceed three million.

The Mission still hold a loyal following today and after numerous line-up changes the original line-up (less drummer Mick Brown) joined forces again and only last year released ‘The Brightest Light’ album. Wayne Hussey was also a pivotal member of The Sisters of Mercy and played on their early eps and their classic and much lauded debut album ‘First and Last and Always.’
