SOS - State of Suspension - Screening

As part of VIVA - Valletta International Visual Arts Festival, we will be screening the documentary/performance film SOS - State of Suspension by Mieke Bal & Benny Brunner on the 3rd of September at 20:30 at Pjazza Teatru Rjal.

The screening will be preceded by a short Q&A Session with Mieke Bal conducted by Mr. Nicola Trezzi, US Editor of Flash Art Magazine.

State of Suspension is a drama of fragments in nine chapters; an unusual and provocative look at Israel, sixty years after independence.

State of Suspension is a hybrid of documentary and performance film. It is a composite of satirical performances, music and poetry especially composed for the film, which transform the Israeli national anthem and the Declaration of Independence into inclusive rallying calls. These elements are interspersed with archival material, compelling situations, revealing statements by a variety of people, all related to the ongoing conflict and the occupation.

Entrance is free of charge however bookings are highly recommended.
