Zfin Etniku - Dance Festival

For the first time in Malta, we present you to an extraordinary dance festival celebrating women and music featuring ethereal Fusion Belly Dancers from all around Europe... 

Friday, 5th September:

Under the direction of Mares - Tribal Fusion Belly Dancer, we invite you to a unique blend of belly dance in a show taking place on Friday, 5th September at Chateau Buskett, at 8.30pm. Tickets are 5 Euros only. Booking is highly recommended as places in the Chateau are limited. 

Saturday, 6th September:

Then, on Saturday, we invite you to two amazing workshops. 

The first is by a special guest - Helena Vega - all the way from Spain for an American Tribal Style Belly Dance workshop, between 11am - 1pm. 

After a lunch break, we are joined by our very own Chellcy to present a Samba Fusion workshop, between 3pm - 5pm. 

Both workshops will take place at FitnessPoint in Sliema. 
Level required: Complete beginners welcome

Who are we? 

We are a community of Tribal Belly Dancers under the direction of a dancer who is the Atlantis in the dance world... We hope to uncover her talents to the world! Here is a brief biography of the woman we love so much..... 

Mares is a dancer, teacher and choreographer who hails from Igualada in Barcelona, Spain.

Her dance education began in 1986 at L'Aula, Escola de Dansa, where she studied classical dance, bolero and flamenco until 2001. Her teachers included Fernando Lizundia - one of the first dancers of Liceo de Barcelona - and Anna Ortiz, an internationally recognised dancer and choreographer. Mares has also studied contemporary dance with Mossa García, jazz with María Jesús Enrique, and hip-hop with Kanga Valls, who has won awards in international competitions such as the Hip-Hop European Championship.

Mares initially studied traditional belly dance and then discovered tribal fusion through Aisha, with whom she became a Tribal Fusion Teacher. Recently she has attended workshops by Martina Crowe, Anasma, Amy Sigil (UNMATA), Rachel Brice, Morgan, Aisha, Rafael Amargo, Illan Riviere, and Nuria Gallego among others.

She was part of the panel in the Belly Dance Competition along with Mercedes Nieto, Rachida Aharrat and Aisha and she has also attended and participated in various performances as a guest dancer, including Maresme Oriental.

Mares currently splits her time between Spain and Malta directing Lunatikas, a Tribal Fusion Dance Company in Catalunya, Zingari, a troupe with dancers from all over Europe, Blue Shadows, another troupe based in Catalunya, and, finally, Serpentamoras, based in Malta. 

As for us, her lucky students, we are based in Malta and were recently invited to perform in Spain in a Fusion Belly Dance Show in Tarragona. We were so thrilled by the experience of sharing our dance internationally that we are now inviting all of the dancers that generously hosted us to present to you all our hard work... and talent!
