Don Chisciotte

Opening Eden Culture’s new season of stunning opera and ballet is Don Chisciotte. Showing exclusively at the Eden Cinemas on Thursday 25th September at 8pm, the renowned ballet is to be transmitted live via satellite from Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

Choreographed by Rudolf Nureyev, the production is based on the epic masterpiece by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. With music by Ludwig Minkus, the adventures of Don Quixote and his squire provide the pretext for a love story and a truly delightful evening. In Nureyev’s version of this famous ballet, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza are not heavily involved in the storyline. Rather, the Russian choreographer envisioned a cheerful ballet, full of pace, humour and momentum, for a series of colourful scenes concerning the thwarted love life of Kitri and Basil. Glittering and full of character, Don Quixote requires superb technique in its variation, especially in the final gran pas de deux that celebrates the triumph of love: a true test of the talent of every étoile.

Showing exclusively in Eden Cinema’s showcase theatre, audiences are to experience that same authentic feel as though watching this exquisite ballet in Milan.
