EVENT DESCRIPTION:
The Feast of Santa Marija of Imqabba is celebrated annually between the 29 July and 22 August. It officially starts on the 29 July with the Kwindicina, which is the 15 days of liturgical preparations till the 15 August which is the day of the Assumption. It comes to closure on 22 August with the so called Ottava Day, the official end of celebrations. The main celebrations takes place between 9 and 15 August with a whole week of celebrations; Liturgical functions at the Parish church, Band Marches accompanied by the joyful celebrations, Concerts, Airial Fireworks and Ground Fireworks (Irdieden) (A masterpiece of colours and Engineering), decorations all around the village especially in the village core and the procession with the statue of the Assumption which is the highlight of the Feast.
