MADC presents “the play of the decade” SKYLIGHT, David Hare’s “luminously beautiful and wildly truthful” award-winning play, directed by André Agius.
This raw, relevant and human play, was written in 1995 by socio-political playwright David Hare yet still emphasizes its relevance within today’s society. The simple yet thought-provoking story-line focuses on Kyra (Simone Spiteri), a teacher of underprivileged children who returns home to find the son of her former lover, Edward (Alex Weenink), at her London home. As Edward tries to convince her to make amends with his now-widowed father Tom (Stephen Oliver), the father himself visits Kyra’s apartment later that same evening. As the story unfolds, a Pandora’s box of power, politics and passion is opened yet again. Internationally this show-stopping play has won numerous awards, including the Olivier Award for Play of the Year in 1996, a Theatre World Special Award for Outstanding Debut Ensemble in 1997, and a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play in 2015.
MADC’s SKYLIGHT includes Ninette Micallef as Executive Producer, Set Designed by Thomas Camilleri, Photography and Videography by Ritty Tacsum and Poster Design and Marketing Material by Adam Brimmer.
