ICE Factor: Virtual Voluntary Sector Conference

The ICE Factor is a new Voluntary Sector Conference to be broadcast from the Gozo Innovation Hub. The organisers said that there will be an “exciting speaker line-up which includes Formula 1 executive and industry analyst Mark Gallagher.

This is a virtual conference for anyone interested in thriving and evolution strategies for the Voluntary Sector in Gozo, Malta and beyond.

The one-day event will be broadcast online from a popup TV Studio located in the state of the art INDIS Malta, at the Gozo Innovation Hub on Wednesday, the 20th of January, running from 9am through to 5pm.

The conference is free for everyone to attend, including NGO and CSR leaders, and for anyone with an interest in the voluntary sector via a simple registration online.
 

The organisers said that this ICE event “is inspired by the commercial challenges being faced by service providers, volunteers and supporters across all areas in the essential ‘Third Sector’ of our society.”

It explained that many of these organisations have relied heavily in the past on physical events for fundraising and clearly the global crisis of 2020 has severely curtailed their ability to generate needed revenues from these ‘usual’ activities.

ICE will to explore new thinking, bringing together innovative minds from within and from outside of the sector to hear ‘TED-style’ impact-filled talks and then to brainstorm new solutions.

“ICE stands for “Innovate. Collaborate. Evolve.” encapsulating the outcome objectives of the event – to make real-world and instant use of this unique cross-sector opportunity, to share great open source thinking from inspiring speakers, to learn practical ideas, and then to action ways for individuals and organisations to think differently about reinventing their value propositions,” said the organisers.

The conference Keynote Speaker is Mark Gallagher, an internationally sought-after motivational speaker and business strategist drawing upon his experiences in Formula 1 where he held senior leadership roles at Jordan Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing and Cosworth


 

Mark Weingard, founder of Iniala and Inspirasia will share his new vision for philanthropy and ‘good giving’ for corporate executives in Malta and beyond. Kristina Pisani of startup ‘Science of Inner Intelligence’ will be exploring how we think, feel and connect with one another to access new sources of energy and creativity.

The talk from Wesley Ellul, co-founder of entertainment company Quizando will share his keen interest in creating a more just society and how his team created a new kind of social media gaming platform that is now being used to generate revenues directly to brands and good causes using instant entertainment.

Other speakers delivering inspiring talks include the record-breaking athlete, founder of Up Performance Coaching, and NGO Sector expert, Nathan Farrugia; together with the founder and CEO of WPR simulator racing, Justin Mifsud; and the Chief Philanthropy Officer of the SiGMA Foundation, Keith Marshall, creator of the Kilimanjaro Challenge and other initiatives that have raised over €1 million for schools construction and support in Africa.

Martin McDonald is one of the organisers of The ICE Factor initiative and he explained, “the ICE Factor is for the people who are the doers, the movers and shakers behind the Third and Voluntary Sector.”
