The International Spring Orchestra Festival

The 15th edition of the International Spring Orchestra Festival (ISOF), under the artistic direction of composer Karl Fiorini, runs from 15 to 19 June. Inspired by music from Germany labelled ‘Degenerate’ and banned by the Nazi regime between 1933 and 1945, the ISOF will host seven concerts over five days in various locations – including the Metanoia Theatre in Luqa, and the Malta Society of Arts and St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral in Valletta. Acclaimed international guest artists – including some familiar faces on the local classical music scene – are flying in from all over Europe for this beloved annual appointment on Malta’s cultural calendar. They will join their Maltese counterparts for an eclectic series of performances showcasing music new to Malta that has been regarded for decades as ‘modern repertoire’.
