From the original version to this Contemporary rendition, content has been adapted, but the main thrust has been retained with the anti-heroine at the centre of a mix of emotive characters. Carmen is a performance with a mixture of true love, smuggling, and murder, all interpreted through the characters of this timeless opera, and to the most enchanting music of Bizet’s composition. This performance is sure to capture the story which first captured audiences’ imagination over 150 years ago. Audiences can appreciate the original features and music whilst feeling for the characters and understanding the pull between desire and duty, the freedom of love and the demands it makes of us. It is a modern take on a classic production which is sure to appeal audiences of all ages.
