Malta Café Scientifique | 3D Printing Plastic from the Source

Malta Café Scientifique | 3D Printing Plastic from the Source in Malta, Arts/Culture Malta, 8.02.2023 - 8.02.2023

Description:

How can we make 3D printing more efficient and environmentally friendly? Join Malta Café Scientifique’s event on February the 8th, 7pm, Studio B (Music room) at Spazju Kreattiv where Albert Curmi will be presenting his research on 3D printing.
Usually, 3D printers use filaments as raw material for printing. Filaments are processed plastic, usually fed to 3D printers in the form of a cable on a spool. At the University of Malta’s faculty of engineering, Curmi researches pellets, which are the components of these filaments. He investigates how to use pellets as raw material for printing. Skipping the step of transforming the pellets to filaments before printing saves work. This way the printing material is cheaper and more environmentally friendly.
