The Sleeping Beauty: Live from London's Royal Opera House

The Sleeping Beauty, the Royal Ballet’s signature work, showing live via satellite from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden on Wednesday 19th March at 20:15.

Showing at the Eden Cinemas for one night only, this spectacular ballet was first staged in St. Petersburg Russia in 1890. Considered the pinnacle of classical ballet, The Sleeping Beauty brings together Petipa’s glorious choreography and Tchaikovsky’s ingenious music. With Oliver Messel’s gorgeous original designs wonderfully re-imagined by Peter Farmers, and additional choreography by Anthony Dowell, Christopher Wheeldon and Fredrick Ashton, today’s Sleeping Beauty not only captures the mood of the original but shows that this is very much a living work of The Royal Ballet, growing and changing with the Company whilst also celebrating its past.

Eden Cinemas continues to enhance the experience of this magnificent ballet through dimmed theatre lighting and amplified sound. Also, with behind the scenes footage shown just before the start of the performance, audiences are made to feel as though they are actually watching the ballet from the Royal Opera House.
