Carnival in Qormi

On Friday 28th February, St Sebastian Street in Qormi will be welcoming the revelling and merrymaking of the 1st day of Carnival. 

The celebrations start at 5.30pm with a competition for the best carnival costume, and continuing with carnival marches through the streets of Qormi by the three Qormi musical bands namely, St George’s, Anici and Soċjetà Filarmonika Pinto Banda San Sebastjan. The marches end at St Sebastian Street infront of Narbona Palace, which houses the Soċjetà Filarmonika Pinto Banda San Sebastjan.

An exhibition about the Maltese carnival is being organised by the Society and the Kummissjoni Żgħażagħ Bastjaniżi. Later throughtout the evening various Carnival companies will be entertaining the spectators with Carnival defiles and dancing.

There will also be various food and sweet stalls including a 100 kilo Prinjolata which will be sold on the day.

Last but not least later on in the evening, a costume carnival ball will conclude this evening of merrymaking.

This activity is organised by the Qormi Local Council, in collaboration with the Soċjetà Filarmonika Pinto Banda San Sebastjan and other  societies within the St Sebastian parish.
